TOPIC: Monday Perfomring Acoustic & Bluegr Music Class #1

Hello Everyone

Welcome to the community education bluegrass class.

In week one, I discussed the following:

1. Playing in a Key using the Major Scale
2. How the banjo, guitar, mandolin and fiddle are tuned.
3. Playing a basic chord progression of I, IV and V
4. Diagrammed the open chords (G, C and D) for guitar and mandolin and the bar form for banjo.

Here are some questions.

What is a Major Scale?
How is the major scaled used in playing music?
What is the preferred Key for the banjo player?, the Mandolin and Fiddle Player?, the guitar player?

For next week, print out the songs Amazing Grace and I'll Sly Away.
