TOPIC: Upcoming Gig at Downtown at the Gardens Carousel

Upcoming Gig at Downtown at the Gardens Carousel 8 years 1 month ago #8467

For those planning on doing the fundraiser at Downtown at the Gardens on Feb 20th, we need to come up with a playlist. I'm guessing we need maybe 10 songs or so. Here's some songs to start with (Cloe is able to play these on the fiddle):

Circle
Cabbage
Old Joe Clark
Amazing Grace

Also Vocals are always nice so maybe Brett can suggest some songs with vocals.
I'm thinking we may want to have a practice at my place on the 13th (tentative)

Need to hear from those that are going to be at the gig----what songs do you want to play??

We can do vocals on Bury Me Beneath the Willow, Will the Circle Be Unbroken, Cripple Creek, Blue Moon of Kentucky and I'll Fly Away. Nine Pound Hammer is another possibility if we have enough people who can take breaks.
Another good instrumental is Soldiers Joy.
If we want to go outside of the Fretmentor catalog, we might try Salt Creek or Blackberry Blossom. Paul and I know those. Chick knows Blackberry and I think is working on Salt Creek and we've all played rhythm on them in Class.
OK. That's my 2 cents worth

2. Wildwood Flower (key of C)
3. Bury me (with vocals) (key of G)
4. Cabbage (key of A)
5. Blue Moon of Kentucky (with vocals) (key of G)
6. Amazing Grace (key of G)
7. Circle (with vocals) (Key of G)
8. Soldiers Joy (key of D)
9. Cripple Creek (with vocals) (Key of G)
10. Old Joe Clark (key of A)
11. Nine pound hammer (with vocals) (key of G)

Not totally sure about the Key or the sequence of all these songs -- comments welcome
we can use this list as a starting point.
I may be playing bass on some of these --- we'll see how it goes.

Planning on doing a practice of the Carousel songs at my place next Saturday 2/13 at 11:30 am, for those of you that can make it. This would be the Saturday before the carousel event on the 20th. More details to follow.
