In the last blues session, Fretmentor emphasized keeping the riffs simple and not trying to crowd too many notes into a measure. Well-placed rests (silence) can also add a lot to a riff. We practiced 12-bar blues while individually playing scales in quarter notes, eighths, and swing-eighths, also alternating between these while going through the scales.
