Although my parents never played any instruments, they continued to want me to. They bought me a guitar from Best Products catalog store (remember them) for my 14th birthday, but I didn't take any lessons then because we couldn't really afford them right then. I said I was going to learn from one of those teach yourself books. I opened the book a couple of times and maybe learned a couple of chords, but as a 14-year-old, I had very little discipline, as you can imagine. The guitar stayed in my closet for the next nine or so years, an object of guilt that I wold pull out occasionally and start again. Actually, I never even got it tuned correctly. I've always been interested in music, but never believed I could do it. The thing I've learned from Fretmentor is that I don't have to be great or have a lot of talent to have fun with a musical instrument. That has been a revelation.
