TOPIC: Howdy

Just wanted to say "Howdy" to all the Mandolin players. I just found this site and am fairly new to the Mandolin but am loving it more each day. I look forward to reading any good tips and techniques you folks may have to offer a Newby. In the meantime.... "Hello from Texas".

Welcome, TxRhino! One bit of advice I can give (learned from the Kruger Brothers) is to never make time to "practice" your instrument......but make time to simply "play" it. I leave mine out of the case, ready to play...even if it's for one song, or 10 minutes.....which usually turns into MORE!

Hi TX-Rhino, I too am new to the mandolin....started with the guitar....but I have to admit that I find it a lot more fun....so keep it up....and after that you can switch to the fiddle as it's set up the same way!!!

Hi Tex...another Mandolin player!.....what part of Texas you from. I have relatives in Austin, and Kerrville.

I'm down in the Rio Grande Valley near South Padre Island. Not exactly Mandolin Country... but we could invent a new venue and do Mariachi Mandolin . Biggest problem I have is find folks to play with. Most around here have no clue what instrument I am playing. Oh well... they'll know it when I get done with em.
