Is anyone here going to the IBMA event in Nashville 10/1 - 10/5?

Perhaps we can schedule a get-together.

Pinky -

I think you might want to share with others what the IBMA is. While many are familiar with it, there are some in the fretmentor community who should learn more about the organization. I wish I could go this year to Nashville but duty does call on me.

I wish I was but do not miss this:

Oct 1 2008: IBMA Showcase Renaissance Hotel 2nd Floor Music City Ballroom 11pm -2am - JJQ and John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band

The JJQ is the John Jorgenson Quintet which is the coolest modern gyspy jazz and swing band you'll ever hear. Jorgenson is a flatpicker and mandolin pickers (and plays about 20 instrument total) and he's got a violin player that is unreal. His bluegrass band features Brad Davis and some of the same guys in his quintet too. I've seen John in a few different projects including the Quintet.

Check it out..

IBMA= International Bluegrass Music Association. For more info go to www.IBMA.org The event in Nashville is a business conference, awards show, and a fan fest. Sort of like a bluegrass Woodstock. The website has a line up of the bands and there is a hospitality suite for members with Ricky Scaggs, Cherryholmes and Cadillac Sky on Wed Oct 1, the awards are Thur. night and Fanfest starts on Fri. Many of the hotels have rooms put aside for jam sessions. All in all, a bluegrass slice of heaven!
