This is a very cool project developing a 2 hour film documentary on the Banjo.
Taken from the website, "The Banjo Project is a musical odyssey through 300 years of American history and culture, featuring contemporary banjo masters such as Pete Seeger, Earl Scruggs, Bela Fleck, Taj Mahal, Mike Seeger, Alison Brown, Sonny Osborn, Don Vappie, Cynthia Sayer and Abby Washburn in interviews and performances, combined with rare archival footage, stills, recordings and first-hand narratives, of the History, performaces, documentary and current state of the banjo with lots of amazing contributors.
The film will probably be on PBS eventrually but right now the website is a treasure trove. WOW!
The performances on the website are great!! Among others, check out Leroy Troy and Grandfathers Clock. I certainly never saw or heard anything like this before. some other performances left me equally slack jawed.
Amazing
