TOPIC: Hit A Plateau

Thanks everyone for the comments. All good advice!

This subject seems to have struck a major chord with everyone:laugh: I go through ruts and plateaus all the time; I try to just hang in there and tell myself it will pass, don't give up (which I feel like doing). Then I think back to the beginning when I started and try to distance myself and see how far I've come. Although it's only a drop in the musical bucket, I guess every little drop fills the bucket over time. I have to give myself some advice as I also feel like I've plateaued(?) at the moment. I need some inspiration.....I guess ultimately it's up to us to seek the inspiration from wherever we can.

I have to agree was dave2311. Working with an instructor will help you stay out of getting in a rut, they will challenge you and give you new ideas and watch for bad habits. I resently injured my left hand, and instead of quiting playing for maybe 6weeks my intructor showed me different ways to practice with the fingers I could use.A new challenge will get you out a rut.

Thanks Oscar. That's good advice. A challenge is good for just about anything! There seems to be a new one every Wednesday night, that I feel fortunate enough to attend. I'm happy to say that the rut was short lived and I'm really enjoying playing.
