TOPIC: Buzz

O.K. Why do my strings buzz when I am playing chords? I know it is something about my fingering and or hand positioning that I am doing or not doing. Any ideas floating around out there? HELP

Maybe you lowered the action too much?? ....You can have the guy that lowered it check it...

Could be action too low, or not fretting or strumming the strings properly. Or neck out of adjustment. Start with the simple one first.

Start even more simply - trim your fingernails. Whenever the strings buzz, I ususally find that the nails on my ring and middle finger are making contact instead of the tip of my finger.

I have a similar problem with my mandolin. My nails are VERY short, so I know that's not the issue. You really have to be very precise on finger placement for the correct sound. watch your hands and see which chords are giving you the most trouble. Then figure out which string(s), correct your finger placement and move onto the next chord.
