TOPIC: Concentration and confidence

Tonight, I was practicing with my mando...minding my own business in my "music room". I was listening to the download for "Circle" and trying to play along...not bad..in my own little world...when I noticed that standing behind me, M was holding the portable phone up, so that her sister, nephew and brother-in-law (who has a masters in music) ...could listen too. She said I sounded good, but I got embarrassed and lost the beat...I do that sometimes in class...I would like to get over that....to keep my concentration going....regardless of where I am or whose listening.

I have the same issue. I like to practice at the beach, when someone walks buy I get all jamed up. It's just a self-comfidance thing for me. I'm not comfortable when people ar around.
I think that's what the class is all about.

Same problem here. Like at the last session, got the lead on Wildwood flower passed to me, and I botched it totally. I must've played that song a thousand times, no problem (with no one around). But if someone's listening, I choke. Sure would like to know why that is....

Thats real true Tigerpaws, but after long hours of practicing we all would like to do good. I guess thats why we are taking the class:)

Try listening to the news or talking while you're practicing. It seems hard at first but, get good at that and you might find distractions less distracting.
