TOPIC: Blues backing tracks

Re:Blues backing tracks 12 years 10 months ago #5453

I have also noticed a plethora of opportunities to "practice" online lately. I think I could play along with youtube tracks or with Garage Band 24 hours a day, not to mention all the practice routines FM has given me to do. Sometimes I still struggle to actually sit down and play. BUt when I do, my wife almost always tells me it sounds good. She's very diplomatic. :laugh: :)

Most likely you are making incremental improvements without noticing. But she notices. Nice.....

Sometimes I'll play through a song, and even though its loaded with mistakes that I think are both obvious and awful, my wife will comment that it sounds good and she doesn't notice any mistakes. Thus is the brilliance of the fretmentor mantra that says when you mess up the lead, don't stop, don't slow down, don't make a face or shake your head, just keep on going as if you meant every note you played. Most people will never notice.;)

@palkan 22: I like that advice.

BUT.. no matter what, my DH (dear husband) still tells me his ears are bleeding!
You should see the faces he makes while I am playing. At least he's honest!
I try to play while he's not home.

Mompodell, the fiddle is the least forgiving instrument :( ...does not hide mistakes....with the guitar and mandolin I get away with a lot more mistakes than I do when I play the fiddle...:blush:

Hey those mistakes aren't so bad. Especially when you are playin' something you really like. You can just keep playing right along and stay into it. If you let them stop you you'll never get any where.
