There were a lot of banjo sellers at IBMA, but not so many mandolin sellers. The ones that were there had LOTS of people trying their instruments. The new Gibson "Orville" was there on display, while all other mandos were available to try out, not that one. There was a Ricky Scaggs used Gibson for $20,000, or a Doyle Lawson for $7500.00. I passed on those. Many people however took the opportunity to play them.
The high piont for me might have been a 6 yr old kid playing mando on stage with Dailey and Vincent. The kid was amazing! He was playing Rawhide (Bill Monroe's) and tearing it up! Time to practice, practice, practice.
