TOPIC: Fast version/Slow version

Fast version/Slow version 14 years 7 months ago #1813

I've been playing with a fiddler who likes to play fast so I have developed two versions of some songs. The regular version for class and the fast version for the fiddler. The fast version removes some notes and runs that, for the time being at least, are unplayable for me at a breakneck clip.
So I have two versions of Soldier's Joy, Old Joe Clark, Cripple Creek, and I'm working on Arkansas Traveler. The speed is a thrill and I'm having a lot of fun. Am I supposed to feel bad for the lost notes?

Why should you??? I lose notes all the time....and in my case NOT on purpose....enjoy your playing....as long as it sounds good, who cares!!! :)

I wouldn't feel bad axel. How many concerts have you been to where the guitarist didn't sound the same as on the recording? The basic structure was there, but it sounded different. I've seen players do alot of improvising. As long as it still sounds like Arkansas Traveler, i wouldn't worry about tossing a few.
Gerry, when you make an omlette, you have to scramble a few eggs....
