As this is my first real guitar I've only tried the CF Martin strings and found out that I really don't like them...they make my fingers turn black when new. I don't know if this happens with all the strings. I did find out that I like using "lights" instead of "mediums"...So until I build my arm muscles that's what I'm sticking with. I was recommended "D'Addarios" by Dave and that's what I'll be using next. I like the 7 chords....like the sound of them.

I also was recomended D'Addario lite's for my banjo and I found them to be more comfortable then the mediums that came on the instrument. They seem to have a crisper sound. However,I must admitt that I realy don't have enough experience to be able to "recomend" anything to any one.

I also have been playing the D'Adarrio's. Mostly lights. My new guitar has Martin (of course) medium guage strings. I'd like to try some different brands and guages to see if there is a noticable difference. One of my guitar playin' buddies swears by Elixir's though I haven't tried them yet. I think it comes down to personal preference. Play what sounds good to you.

I also use D'Addario(phosphor bronze) light strings and like them.
At this point I like the G chord because I remember when I just started learning the guitar, the G chord was so hard for me to make, but now I feel pretty comfortable with it, probably because most of the songs we've been learning all start with G ! ! !
