TOPIC: Reccommended tempo

I have another question regarding Simple Gifts---i'm practicing with a metronome. What tempo should i strive for the rhythm in this song? I'm currently practicing @ 60 BPM in 4/4 time. Although i know most bluegrass is alot faster than that:woohoo:

Try 55 BPM. This is a slow shaker tune and not really a bluegrass tune.

Dave, how fast are most bluegrass songs? 80-100 BPM?

Tempo on all tunes vary, so its difficult to give you an answer. We played a song once at approximately 180 bpm. Many tunes may vary from 80-120 bpm or so. There are also slow tunes, and that is why you are learning those as well.
