TOPIC: To the violin players out there

To the violin players out there 14 years 3 months ago #2249

Hey, all

Do any of you know a good (or great) violin luthier? My wife has a fine handmade violin that is in need of some TLC.

She won a local violin competition in her youth in LA and the prize was a handmade violin made by a Los Angeles violin maker.

I am going to visit mine next week in Schuylerville, NY when I go there for Christmas. Schuylerville is about 12 miles from Saratoga Springs and the location of the new National Military Cemetery and the actual site of the Battle of Saratoga during the Rev. war.
His name is Martin " Marty" Macica and has a WEB site at macica.com.
He makes violins and mandolins by hand without power tools of any kind.

Very cool Jim. When I was in college I had friends at Skidmore and visited the campus a few times.

We should talk when you get back. I'm a DVM also.

Happy Holidays to all!
