TOPIC: A couple of things about Key to the Highway

A couple of things about Key to the Highway 9 years 1 month ago #8262

A couple of things were emphasized in this week's class.

One was that, when strumming, you need to follow through with your hand and arm movement across the strings. You can keep the rhythm going by muting the strings while raking across the strings. On the first beat, or the first and third beats, you can let out some sound but don't let them ring for long.

The second thing is that you can play a lead for the entire song using Am pentatonic scale, except that when the song switches to the next chord in the progression, hit the target note within the Am pent scale. For example, in the key of Am, when you switch to the 4-chord, play the target root note D, then keep playing out of the Am pent scale. Likewise when you go to the 5, play the target note E, and then continue playing leads out of the Am pent scale.
