OKAY. START OFF THE NEW YEAR RIGHT! TREAT YOURSELF TO A NEW SET OF STRINGS! I READ YOU SHOULD CHANGE YOUR BANJO STRINGS AFTER EVERY EIGHT HOURS OF PLAYING TIME. BUY YOUR STRINGS BY THE CASE.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING SOME DIFFERENT GAUGES. THE DIFFERENCE IS TRULY STRIKING, ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING TO A LIGHTER SET.

Yes I think the heavier strings last longer. (80/20) bronze alloy.

It's on my to-do list for this weekend, for my Guild. My Gibson is having the action adjusted and is unfortunately not at home this weekend.

It takes me over eight hours (or so it seems) to change strings and then tune and retune. I hate it and I'm probably not very good at it.

With the skill that I play with, I replace the strings when one breaks.
