Moving around your practice sessions may also help anyone having problems with stage fright too. It gives you a feeling of openness. Create an imaginary audience and play for them, make a few faces and do a few moves. Try playing a scale in front of a mirror while watching your fingers. That may help you get your eyes off the fretboard when performing. I never had a problem with stage fright but I'm trying to get better about not staring at my fingers. The mirror thing helped me learn hand position better so it's more second nature. Most of all, the best kept secret for success spoken by the great Winston Churchill (and it's only six words)... never, never, never, never, give up!
